Ok,let me start the review

Statement (1) says that you are practical. In every sense, almost all people are practical, they go to school, they find a work , and even a dreamer that dreams about flying and etc is practical, because he is still undergoing a normal life, and almost everyone think that they are a DOWN TO EARTH person, because, there is no opposite to "down to earth" to begin with.

Statement (2) you are straightforward. This is more of like a flattery statement. Well, most people wouldn't be a straightforward person because doing so will make your boss/ lecturers/ friends / girlfriends be pissed off of you. It's a nature for people to lie, but they like to have people saying they are honest.

Honestly, there's not a pure definition of straightforwardness, consider that we don't lie all the time, but then, it doesn't mean straightforward either...With such a blurry abstract word, you won't probably say. " No, I am a twisted figure that ready to lie when circumstances call," You wouldn't yould you

Statement (3) You are efficient problem solver because you listen to BOTH SIDE. OMG, don't make me laugh. A effective problem reason MUST listen to both side of problem, this word "because you are,...." is simply meaningless

RE: Why my Chinese co-workers are lazy?

Actually after writing this post, 2 hours later, I realized I had done a mistake - Generalization and sampling....After noticing this two things, I had to change my statement a little bit, Chinese from China may not be lazy in nature, but the Chinese I saw (that works) in my U has a high chance of being a lazy one.

It was still a barking statement, but actually, this actually makes more sense. What is the barking theory behind this barking statement, okay, let's see....zzzz........

Sampling

Let say there is a sampling machine that can check staminas and working efficiency, and will rate from "lazy to hardworking". 50 white and 50 Chinese is chosen randomly, and the test is done...and If the test is repeated for 10 times, I dare -say, more chinese will be categorized as the lazy group.....

Why so? The answer is simple, the sampling is not random as it seems.....

Most Chinese chosen has a great chance from China (as China student is one of the largest group of international student). Thinking of it, why are they able to come here?

the 3 main reasons- Finance

- Scholarship

- Parents funded

- Self funded.....

Self funded is typically impossible, in Malaysia, even though u have get a lottery of 1 hundred millions, you will find yourself hard to survive in US more than 4 years......

Scholarship - I will probably deduce that scholarship student in U of M is generally lesser compared to Malaysia. It's because China itself has 2 reputable world class university, and their overall ranking is much higher than U of M. Therefore, it will be funny if there's a lot of scholarship offer to U of M in China (why would u study overseas when your own country is good enough?). But still, there might be some scholarships that offer study in U of M, but it will be lesser.

Family funded- no doubt, I can deduce most China student here are family funded.

Implication from Finance

Think in a common sense way, the parents must be rich ( in most cases) to be able to fund their children in the USA. So, u can deduce that those students must have a life of bed and roses most of the time (because their parents are above average and rich), and therefore not adapted to hard working environment.

And that's why most China co -worker I met will have a higher chance to be a lazy bump lol......

And why not the whites?

Simple enough, if we looked at the financial way. The reason white student can study in U of M is because

- Loan

- Scholarship

- Family funded

- Self funded

Loan, and scholarship to the U is much common compared to China. And therefore, family with average income can send their child to the U, and since the white's parent don't have to be VERY VERY rich to send their child in the U (as compared to CHina), their children will be likely less pampered. And thus, more hardworking lol

3rd world and 1st world mentality

My campus working life started 2 weeks ago, when I was on the point of starvation, I finally got a job in UDS. On the point of starvation, when the rice is empty, the dollars are countable, the job bestows me like getting a triple kill in DoTA when the game is losing. The best part however, the food is free, ....

FREE!

And so I determined to work hard, and EAT HARDER, and in few days, my body weight should undergo an exponent growth very soon. The Tuesday shift and Thursday shift are a moonlight walk despite the amounts of dishes. The Ethopian (a country from Africa, tats what he say) guy and the white guy are really helpful and efficient, and often times we are bored in the dishroom, listening to the loud blaring video, because all jobs are already done.

Despite the white guy not being a talkative one, and the ethopian guy that reacted heavily on heavy music (esp from rihanna's) , but they helped me out and made my first working experience a good one.

And thus hell bestows on me when Saturday and Sunday came, when my partner was a chinese. At first, I thought this will solve the communication problem (both of us are chinese), but the moment I opened the radio, listening to my favorite channel, he quickly put his ipod on.....

I wished I could tell him - fireflies from Owl city is awesome....

My first week in Saturday proved to be a tedious one, however, it was still manageable because a third guy came to help, (despite the fact that he is a newbie, it's better than none). However, the thing that horrifies me is....the silverware is not properly washed, and the chinese guy skipped some rules that ensures the cleanliness of the tool....and I prayed there's no food poisoning outbreak on the following day.

I can't say anything because I was still a newbie and afraid to speak out.

And second week is a NIGHTMARE, this time I partnered with ANOTHER chinese, and as usual, he put his ipods on when I open the radio. And as usual?, he is late for 15 minutes, and as usual? he slowly arrange those plates when I was busying handling loads of plates and needed a helping hand, and as usual?

HECK...SINCE WHEN THIS IS AN AS USUAL STUFF...

He sat outside the corridor for 15 minutes while my hand was busy with plates. He sat another 15 minutes on corridor when it's time to settle stuff. He played with his cellphones when plates are pilling out the dishing machine and almost overloaded. He take a break for a long time, and left me a pile of mess when he just wags his tail and take a break.

Really, this guy from china really drives me to the point of complaining to the manager, but in the end, I chilled down and work, but still.....

I had no idea whether it has to do with first class mentality and third class mentality. Often, you might seen those Westerns guy - they don't care about elders, they like f***, they like party, which to some extend, abhored by those Easterners. But then again, most Westerners are more time - conscious (better than me), more outspoken, more honest (it's a yes or no), more rule-conscious, and they are those group of people that ready to fight for own rights, and willing to come out with rallies. (which is uncommon in Malaysia)

I am not degrading those 3rd world people (include me). But seriously, the nation needs a mentality change...The two Chinese might be an exceptional case, but so far I had encountered 3 chinese with lousy working attitude, this suggests - there is something need to be done in the mind of people like us....

We need to renovate our mind, and learn those westerners...
